We all pretty much know that in this year 2016, DC would finally once again reached its peak for bringing some of the most iconic DC comic characters to life in cinematic pictures. But after watching Batman v. Superman, and the recent blockbuster hit Suicide Squad, each and everyone of its viewers would probably reconsider its first thought once again; is that really the best effort that DC could put?
If the answer to that question is a yes, than that would be a definite sad and pathetic fact that all DC fans have to choked on. But fortunately, everyone believes that there's hope for DC to pull another fantastic superhero movie like the ones Christopher Nolan made.
To answer if DC's movies is a nah or meh, I'm giving you why DC's recent film got their butts ripped from a lot unsatisfied critics and movie goers, and how to fix it.
Look, when I first looked at the Suicide Squad's teaser and wallpapers, I couldn't deny the fact that I love the whole young and cool gangster-like version of the characters. Joker's new look is brilliant, stating that villains and gangsters nowadays don't necessarily wear purple tuxedos around every day and have tendencies to have more body ink and piercings. And instead of bringing a deck of cards, this version of Joker brings knives, which is far more digested in people's logic.
But then when you compare the characters and the story, you'd see a significant differences and agreed that those two things don't belong to each other. If DC wants to reboot and create a whole new concept for the character, then don't let the story remain an old predictable one. Putting cool dialogues and rated-R jokes doesn't give a sense that the story would fit into the newly booted characters. If you want make everything gangster-like, then don't make the antagonist a witch that clearly doesn't fit well with the Suicide Squad itself. If DC can't proceed their sudden innovations, then just stick to how it was in the comics.
2. Can somebody fix the story, already.
How is it that a powerful immortal-like witch got beaten by a crocodile, a nut-head with a baseball bat and a girl with a sword? How is it that Batman and Superman suddenly became all Matt-and-Ben just by realizing that their mothers have the same name? I get that it has a deep meaningful sentiment towards it, but come on. Take a look at Marvel, some of its stories are actually pretty simple, and that is accompanied a good skill of developing it. What DC really needs is to get its story fixed and laid out properly. Make it simple, make it memorable,or else we'd start watching more and more of Marvel films. Has anyone realized that the Suicide Squad was basically just went up to a building and then went down?
There's no weight in the story, and not a lot of thought was put into the story. You can tell that it was rushed, and its purpose was only to entertain the beaming crowd of children and teens who are dying to see Harley Quinn's dyed hair and a pink unicorn. Its purpose was for fun and fun alone. But it doesn't have the quality to make the audience have a deep thought and poured emotions to it.
3. Hire pros who knows what their doing.
DC knew that the previous Superman installment Man of Steel, had a shameful flop. But then they still picked Zack Snyder to direct Batman v. Superman. David Ayer is a talented director that has more of a dark gothic approach to its films. But then they wanted him to direct a film that has funky pastel colors on it.
DC needs to hire someone who knows how to make a superhero film correctly. Someone who has a clear vision and a right approach on making a superhero movie. DC spent too much money for things that doesn't even matter much. Making great films is more than having expensive star-packed soundtracks, with cool graphic and colors, and average-looking CGI.

DC comics have many cool and interesting characters that lots of people adore, but unfortunately, somehow DC managed to throw away all of their potentials and eventually made into one of the stiff character that doesn't a major and crucial role.
When I watched Suicide Squad, I thought it was going to be like the Suicide Squad versus the Joker. But then, Joker became nothing more than clingy psychopathic boy who cares only for his girlfriend. He tried to save Harley Quinn twice, and killed a man for only looking at her. Joker didn't talk to any of the Suicide Squad members, doesn't play any major role, and wasn't even the main conflict of the story. He was supposed to be the bad-ass villain. He was supposed to be more.
And Superman, who by far had the most interesting story in DC comics, unfortunately had only 40 something lines to say in the movie.
5. Be original. Be DC.
Here's the problem with DC. It's clear as crystal that DC was desperately and constantly trying to compete against Marvel Cinematic Universe and have its movies ended up having the highest box office record and received heart-warming critics. But making a superhero movies isn't just about cool special effects, grand budgets, and funny hot superhero characters. And DC needs to stop making their movies as similar as the ones to MCU, because there is so much to differ between DC and Marvel. It feels as if BvS is the fail version of Captain America: winter soldier, and Suicide squad is the fail version of Deadpool.
DC is a great entertainment company. They just need a little wake up call, and slap on the face saying that their films, may could be a hit at the box office, and stamped as one of the most interesting entertainment in pop culture history, but they're just not enough to satisfy the whole audience. Unlike Marvel.
